Top 8 Importance of Money That Kids Should Learn in 2018

Money is very important to all the people in the world, but most of the people don’t know the true value of money. Some people think that money is just an item used for payment of goods and services. Some might say money is the root of all evil for some point it is correct in a way that it is being abuse by the people itself. If can fully understand that if we use the money in a right way, good things and having a nice peaceful society will be the result. At some point older people cannot undone the bad things we experience because of money but we can still do something about it by teaching our kids the importance of money.

1. Spending Money for Unnecessary Things
We should guide and practice our kids not to buy unnecessary things that is not really needed in a particular age, and it is not practical these day to just buy anything they want when you see your kids crying, most of parents mistake is if they see their children cry because he/she wanted an IPhone X in the age of 4-16 years old, they always say “It is okay, just once and we have an extra money for it”. The moment you said that you already know that doesn’t end there, there is still new phones’ coming out every month or year and it will keep on repeating the same process until you’ve end up wasting money for nothing.

We should at least consider the right time to buy things to our children, must consider the age, and is she/he at the right age already to use a Mobile Phone? If not, don’t even bother buying one even if they cry, just make sure to explain to them why it is not yet time to buy those kind of stuff for them. We might as well consider the things even if your kid is already at the right age and they want to purchase a Mobile Phone for the reason to have a good communication to their friends and especially to family, if that is the case then try to buy one but make sure not too expensive that cost almost $2,000 dollars, it is not a practical way to buy that kind of price just for a Mobile Phone.

2. Practice Kids Savings
Teaching our kids to save money at a very young age is all the parents’ obligation, we don’t teach them to save money to be selfish and greedy, but to know the value of money, which if they practice and acquire this personal financial skill, in the future as they grow, they will see the real value of money and they will learn how to make good use of it. So many parents never do that or some do it but not consistent, after a few days, months or years they would end up stop encouraging their kids to save money just because their children has no interest on doing that.

Being a parent it is part of our system that no matter what happen we shouldn’t give up on our children even if they do give up on us. It is us who will nurture them in every possible way. It doesn’t matter if it takes forever as long as we, the parents of this young generation must take full responsibility and never give up for our children.

3. Invest More in Children’s Education
They say the children are the future of this world. It is absolutely true that is why we need to invest more on our children’s education, which is the biggest, most expensive and limitless treasure that they can get from their parents. As a parent we thought that by sending our children to any kind of school is enough for them to learn, but the truth is 60% of students don’t go to school to learn. Some students go to school because they have friends at school, Some students get up early to go to school just to see and be with his/her crush or love one, there are students also that has no choice but to go to school because his/her parents is too strict and violent forcing them to go to school which is a very terrible way of being a parent to a children.

As a parent it should start from us being not just a parent to our children but to be a teacher/professor as well, the first thing that our children will learn is at home, all the basic learning in life whether it is about money, love, experience, etc. it will always start with the parents to teach their kids the first step of everything. And by showing our kids the right way, setting a good example to them is one way to lead them to a good life in the future.

Every parent must not be discourage or lose hope if the school fees are too high, there is always way in everything, nowadays government supports the education of the people who cannot afford to send their kids to school. In my very own opinion as long as you have money no matter how big or small, send your kids to school as much as possible, guide them until the very end of school and everything will be worth it not just for us but for them as well.

4. Buy to Increase or Expand Money Growth
This is unlike the number 1 on my list, the importance of teaching our kids to buy something to increase or expand money growth is for them to learn how to buy something that is worth it and can generate more income, for example is buying puppies both male and female with a good breed, most of the kids love puppies, by buying a good breed of puppy and your kids take good care of it until it become an adult, this puppies will produce new puppies as they grow up, and it can become a good source of income for your kids, they can sell this good breeds of puppies to other dog lover out there. In the end your kids learned how to earn money and buy buying something that will generate an income in the future is really worth it.

5. Use Your Money to Help Others & Don’t Expect Something in Return
This doesn’t apply to everyone but as much as possible we should try to encourage our children to help others if we do have extra money. There are so many things we could teach our kids on helping other people, We should let our kids be involve on activities that help less fortunate people, like by buying foods to the old people on the streets, giving money donation to the church, and when someone you know that is not abusive and really needed a financial help.

If you’re a parent and you’ve notice your kids are like much of a giver to others either Money, Food or Things, Let them do that, always remember never stop your kids from helping others just guide and advise them, we all know there is still people out there who will take advantage and abuse our children in terms of asking for more, but it is our role just to guide them on what is right or wrong, advise them if needed. Being there for them at all times is the best way to guide them until they grow up.

6. Money as a Reward in Every Achievements
Some parents doesn’t agree with this, but this is another effective way of teaching our kids the importance of money, to be able to received money from the parents they must work for it, teaching them that money is not an easy way to get, it requires hard work and effort to do something for the best reward which is money.

A good example is by telling your kids to do household chores in return, you will reward them with money, and they will learn a certain skills that maybe useful someday when they become independent. I’ve seen and know people grow up who doesn’t even know how to wash dishes for the reason that their parents didn’t require them to do that or they are super rich and maids to that for them, in my point of view, life of a people is like a car tire, you’re not always going to be on top, there is always a chance that you will be at the bottom, so learning to do simple things will help you someday in your life especially when you never expected things to happen.

7. Money is Not Permanent
Money is very important in today’s life, but at the end of your life, would you be able to bring your money with you? Exactly not at all, not even single cents of your money will follow you until the very end. This should be taught to our children that money is money, as long as you have money you could do things you want, but all kids today must learn that money is never permanent, learn to appreciate when you have it, work hard when you never had it, and most of all share it while you can still hold it. Tell your children that at the end of our life if we all make good use of money there will be no regrets and we will be happy because someone will remember us from the good things that we’ve done.

8. Embrace Every Cents That You Have
It is true that money can bring happiness to one individual, when you earn to have it and spend it the way you want it, that is pure happiness using money, but most of the kids these days as they grow up never really understand the importance of money, rich kids in particular, I believe we should teach our children that money can disappear in an instant if we don’t value it, if we don’t know how to use it. We can see children playing and throwing some coins which is not a good thing to do even if at the very young age, we should teach them at the early stage of their life that you should not play with money, every cents is important. Many people young and old don’t realize this until they’ve reach to the point that they don’t have single cents in their pocket or even at home.

We all know someone who only realizes the value of every cents or coins that they have at home when their bank account is zero balanced, that is the only time they will search for coins in every part of the house.
Tell our kids not to wait for that kind of situation to happen, value every cent that they have because we never know it can be useful someday.
