Bank South Pacific (BSP) is the largest bank in Papua New Guinea. They are recognised for strong commitment to the region and its Melanesian uniqueness. Most people living in Papua New Guinea are choosing BSP as their primary bank, because they deliver well the best service to the customers and they make everything easy for the local citizen, foreign worker and to all business entities.
To open an account in BSP there are five choices for transaction and savings accounts, for everyday banking, BSP Transaction Accounts offer you the flexibility to choose which transactions you will pay and which transaction you will not pay. These accounts are designed to suit every BSP client’s lifestyle and transaction requirements.
Transaction Accounts
All the transaction accounts come with KunduCard and Mobile Banking, as well as Telephone and Internet Banking.
The Kundu Accounts and Sumatin Account ,come with a Visa Debit Card if you want to travel without bringing a lot of cash with you this would be very convenient and if you want to purchase online, this is very useful But it is just optional, still up to you if you want to have one.
Kundu Accounts are listed below; there are two options to choose from.
1. Kundu Standard Account – Suited for customers who perform few transactions only per month
2. Kundu Package – suitable for customers who perform multiple transactions per month
Another type of account is the Sumatin Account; it is a great solution for young people to learn how to manage their money at the very young age. Most of the students in particular are the one who prefer this type of account.
3. Sumatin Account – Transaction Account best suited for students or young people who want to start saving money.
Savings Accounts
The BSP personal customers are given a special option to save with them using the BSP Savings Account Available with a very competitive interest plans; all will have the opportunity to gain more if you save more.
1. Kids Savings Account – For children age 0- 15 years

KUNDU ACCOUNTS
The Requirements for Opening an Account for Kundu Standard Account and Kundu Package Account is to fill up the Kundu Application Form & Provide your National Identification Card or any of the following:
- Identification Card (Example; Current Passport, Driver’s License, Employment I.D)
- One matching form of non-photo I.D (Example: Birth Certificate, Baptismal Certificate, School Certificate, Employment Certificate or Letter, etc.)
- Referees is acceptable to BSP account application ( Check at the back or 2nd page of Kundu Account Application Form)
The Requirements for Opening Sumatin Account is to fill up the Sumatin Account Form. Age of applicant must be 15 to 25 years old and you need to provide the BSP with one of your primary document and one alternative document, the primary document can either be Confirmation Letter from your school just to verify if you really are part of their institution and a Valid Student Identification Card.
If you don’t have one of the primary documents BSP will not open a Sumatin Account for you.
The primary documents can be supported by any alternative documents listed below:
- Valid Driver’s License
- Valid Passport
- Birth Certificate
- Baptismal Certificate
- School Certificate
- Referee is acceptable to BSP who can identify the student (use the page 2 of the Sumatin Account Application Form)
The requirement for Opening Kids Saving Account is to complete the Kids Savings Account Application Form and submit with either;
- One valid Identification with additional Identification documents
- One or more Identification documents or card
Additional documents can be: Original Birth Certificate, Baptismal Certificate or School Certificate
Note: If a child is unable to provide any of the above requirements, they can still open an account. They must at least complete the Kids Saving Account Form and a Parent or Guardian can provide all the requirements needed and the BSP will fully identify or confirm all the requirements submitted, (This apply only If they are not existing BSP Customer)
PLUS SAVER ACCOUNT
The only requirement for this account is you must open a Kundu Account and then just complete the Plus Saver Account Application Form.
